STEP 1: THE FINEST LEAVES
It all begins with selecting the finest leaves from the Kratom tree, known scientifically as Mitragyna speciosa. These leaves are the real stars of the show! Experienced farmers carefully handpick the leaves, making sure they are mature and packed with Mitragynine, the main alkaloid in Kratom, which feels especially prominent in White and Green Vein strains.
STEP 2: DRYING, PROCESSING, AND SHIPPING
Once the leaves are collected, one of the most important parts of the process begins: drying and fermenting. For the most part, strains get their colors due to the drying and fermentation process, which means taking great care is crucial to achieving the desired final product.
Once the leaves have completed this process, they go on to be ground into powder that is packaged and loaded onto pallets. From there, the pallets are loaded into shipping containers and make their way from Indonesia to the USA; where we receive the powder for further testing, processing, and refinement.
STEP 3: TESTING, TESTING, TESTING
It isn’t just the final product that gets tested. When it comes to ensuring that only the purest, most high-quality Kratom makes it to you, testing must be carried out at multiple points in the process.
The first tests begin when the leaves are collected and crushed into powder, where they are screened for pathogens and Mitragynine content before being sent off. Those results are double-checked via more testing once the powder arrives in our processing facility.
Finally, the powder is tested to determine specific alkaloid percentages as well as to screen for things like heavy metals and microbiology.
STEP 4: EXTRACTION
While the specifics of the Kratom extraction process can vary between facilities, the most common method used is solvent extraction.
Solvent extraction, to put it simply, is the act of soaking a plant in something like ethanol or alcohol in order to separate the compounds within the leaves from the leaves themselves. And while ethanol is a very popular solvent to use, Kats Botanicals products are extracted without ethanol, using only food-grade solvents at every step of the process.
This leaf-free mixture is then distilled, so that only the good stuff (in this case Mitragynine and other alkaloids) is left behind.
STEP 5: MAKING YOUR FAVORITE PRODUCTS
Now that the Kratom extract is ready, it’s time to share its magic with the world! The potent extract is carefully crafted into things like Kratom Shots or delicious gummies, making it easy and convenient for you to enjoy.
